Riitta Ikonen has worked in collaboration with photographer Karoline Hjorth to produce these heartwarmingly beautiful photographs of people covered in vegetation. 'Eyes as Big as Plates' is an ongoing project by Finnish artist Ikonen and Norwegian photography Hjorth that explores the relationship that their older models have to the natural surroundings they are photographed in. The photographs have a fairy-tale quality to them, they present the forgotten, the retired sailors and the moss growing in the cracks of a pavement.
